Why Cleanup Is the Part of Deck Removal That Matters
Demolition quotes that come in cheap are usually cheap because they end when the deck is in a pile. Footings stay in the ground, the ledger scar gets covered rather than flashed, and the disposal becomes your problem.
If the deck is coming off the house, the wall behind it is exposed and it is the one chance to see and fix what has been happening back there. That is worth doing while it is open, especially if a new deck is going back in the same spot.

Common Deck Removal Questions
How much does deck removal cost?
Breaking out and hauling concrete piers is the heaviest part of a teardown. Cutting them below grade and backfilling costs far less and is fine if you are landscaping over the area. The quote says which one you are getting, because that line is where cheap quotes get cheap.
What happens to the wall where the deck was attached?
When the ledger comes off the house, the rim joist behind it is exposed for the first time since the deck went on. If water has been getting in, that is where it shows. Covering it back up without looking is a wasted opportunity.
Where does the old deck material end up?
Treated lumber carries preservatives, so it cannot be burned or taken as clean wood. It gets separated at disposal and goes where it is supposed to go, which is part of what you are paying for on a teardown.
What condition is the site left in?
A yard full of rusted fasteners after a demolition is genuinely dangerous, especially with kids or dogs. Ground raked, screws and nails picked up, holes backfilled. The job is finished when the space is usable, not when the deck is gone.
